URBAN-X

URBAN-X helps urbantech startups that are reinventing city life prepare for fundraising through a comprehensive, 20-week accelerator program. Every 6-months, 10 accepted startup companies are funneled through this immersive program that covers customer development, product development, network-building and much more. 

The curriculum is completely customized according to each startups’ needs and revolves around weekly meetings with the core URBAN-X team as well as routine sessions with experts. Surpassing 2,000 members, the network of mentors participating in the program consists of professionals when it comes to overcoming urbantech challenges. Each one intimately understands regulated industries and government procurement, making urban problem-solving simpler.

Each startup has invaluable access to the wealth of design, product development and engineering knowledge that comes from the in-house MINI and BMW design talent. The Experts-In-Residence, incredibly skilled in UX and UI, engineering, software development, growth hacking, communications, and urbanism, are eager to help nascent companies improve their products. On the business side of things, startups will participate in sessions about fundraising, legal, accounting, cash flow management, sales, communication, team building, culture building and scaling.

URBAN-X is searching for startups that are working to make cities a better place to live. These startups are developing disruptive solutions across sectors such as real estate and construction, infrastructure, public safety, mobility, food, water, energy and more. URBAN-X makes an initial investment of $100,000 over which the startup will have full autonomy. 

Applicants are evaluated by the amount of impact potential, the team members and their level of experience, the company’s approach to urban problems, potential competition, and risks  associated with their proposed solutions. The ideal founders have a growth mindset and learn quickly, are relentless and deliberate about their culture.
